One of the things I learned from selling expensive things to the affluent was that outreach methods didn’t work at all with them.Â
If they want something, they go and get it. And if they don’t want something, nothing you can say or do will change it!
Your marketing needs to tell the story without you.Â
The story of you, your offer, their pains and desires -- when this story is told without you there is no sales pressure.
That allows people to have epiphanies about buying decisions before they even speak to you.
Outbound marketing and outreach methods -- this is checkers.
Inbound marketing -- this is chess.
Why doesn’t everyone do it?
People don’t know how to do it. That’s all.
Everyone’s copying each other's stuff that isn’t working -- so no one's stuff is working.Â
People see a new posting technique or a type of funnel, and they gravitate towards it.
And I get it, I used to do that kind of stuff too when I started.Â
But I learned that the BEST things take time.Â
Think about a crop of carrots for example.Â
When the seeds are planted, the farmer already knows what’s going to happen, she’s seen it many times.Â
So she makes sure to come back every day to care for and nurture those seeds, watering them, and building a fence around the space of dirt to protect them.Â
To the onlooker, she kinda looks crazy, watering dirt every day, with a fence around some dirt.
But soon enough, just a little bit of time and green shoots appear. To the onlooker, this could easily be mistaken for weeds -- but the farmer knows exactly what’s happening. So she keeps nurturing, watering, and protecting, and now she’s making sure that sunlight is reaching the leaves of those green shoots.
Each day, the pattern continues, and soon enough it’s harvest day and all of this wonderful delicious food comes directly out of the space of dirt in the ground.
A bountiful harvest growing that whole time -- yet was hidden from the untrained eye.Â
The same holds with creating inbound lead flow.Â
The problem is, that most owners can’t see the green shoots of their marketing strategy actually working, simply because they don’t know what to look for.Â
They can’t see direct results quickly, so they veer off course, all too soon, not realizing growth was happening under the surface all along.
I’ve been a student of inbound lead flow for over 14 years with my own businesses and with my client's businesses.Â
There’s nothing really special about what I do (I wish magic was involved) it’s just that I have a strong distaste for outreach marketing, I come from a background where outreach marketing really didn’t work, so I was forced to figure out and develop inbound lead flow.
